How Our Data Works
Plain English. Last updated: 13 May 2026.
Where facility data comes from
Aged Care Circle sources its facility data from two Australian Government datasets: the My Aged Care Provider Register (published by the Department of Health and Aged Care) and the quarterly provider extract published by the ACQSC (Aged Care Quality and Safety Commission). This data includes facility name, address, compliance status, star ratings, audit history, and approved care types.
We do not manufacture or estimate any government-sourced data. What you see on a facility’s compliance, quality, and financial benchmark sections is what the Australian Government publishes.
Where facility-supplied content comes from
Facilities that have claimed their listing can enhance their public profile with operator-supplied content. This content is clearly labelled with a “Provided by [facility name]” tag so families know which information comes from the operator rather than the government dataset.
Unclaimed profiles show only government-sourced data.
What operators cannot change
Compliance status, star ratings, audit history, and financial benchmarking data cannot be modified by facility operators through the portal. These fields are written by our government data sync and are protected from operator edits.
If an operator believes any government-sourced data is incorrect, they can flag it via their portal dashboard. Corrections flow through the appropriate government channel.
How families’ data is used
When you submit an enquiry to a facility, the information you provide is shared with that facility so they can respond. The full list of data shared is in section 17 of our Privacy Policy.
We do not sell, rent, or trade family data. Anonymous page-view analytics are reported to operators in aggregate — they see total views and shortlist counts, never individual family details. See our full privacy notice for detail.
Search rankings and editorial independence
Search results are ranked by quality and relevance. We never sell placement.
- Government star rating (quality score from the aged care regulator)
- Profile completeness
- Distance from your search location
- Relevance to your care needs and selected filters
Payment tier is never an input into search ranking. A facility cannot improve its search position by upgrading to a paid tier, paying for placement, or advertising with us.
